Warzone’s player count reduced in Season 3 Reloaded update

Warzone Season 3 Reloaded brings a host of major changes to the battle royale, including a move to lower the amount of players dropping into matches on Caldera.

One of the first things that set Warzone apart from its competitors was the player count in matches. While most battle royales stick to 100 competitors or less, Call of Duty took a different approach, bumping that number up to 150.

Since then, that number has remained fairly stable, with occasional changes. In fact, that number can even see a boost, with select Limited-Time Modes allowing 200 players to jump out of the plane and onto the island below.

That number is set for a significant change though, with Raven Software deciding to cut the number of active competitors on the map in Warzone Season 3 Reloaded.

Starting with the release of the Warzone Season 3 Reloaded update, the player count on Caldera will see a 20% reduction. This means the number of players in a match will go from 150 down to 120.

This change will take effect across all core game modes in Warzone, which means solo, duo, and quad matches will all see this reduction.

This isn’t the first time that Raven have lowered the player count, but does mark the first time they’ve done so permanently. Back in December 2021, the developers temporarily cut the number in response to issues that were causing players to disconnect from matches.

Raven’s decision to lower player count is just one of many game-changing updates included in this patch. Warzone Season 3 Reloaded also brings a major overhaul to the HUD system while bringing Rebirth Island in line with the rest of the game by boosting health to 150HP

On top of that, the developers also intend to nerf Stims, explaining that the item’s “slide modifier was too extreme,” while also adding “weapon damage interruption” to stop players from healing while they are being shot. These changes will arrive in Warzone in a future update.
