When does GTA Online’s Cayo Perico heist release? Map, Submarine HQ

Rockstar have officially announced the Cayo Perico Heist, and we have everything you need to know about the new island, HQ, and more.

Rockstar Games have officially announced the latest GTA Online Heist, bringing a new island called Cayo Perico and plenty of new additions to the game. Here’s everything you need to know about the next major update.

It’s been a long wait for a new GTA Heist, with the Diamond Casino job releasing almost a full year ago back in December 2019.

Finally, Rockstar have announced that players will be heading to a new location for their next heist, with the luxury private island of Cayo Perico playing host to the next chapter of GTA Online.

When does the Cayo Perico heist launch in GTA Online?

GTA Online players will need to mark December 15 in their calendars, as that is the date they’ll be able to explore Cayo Perico for the first time.

Rockstar claim this is the “biggest GTA Online adventure ever,” including “an all-new heist location” along with a “brand-new approach to Heist design.”

Where is GTA Online’s Cayo Perico island?

Cayo Perico is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before in GTA Online and marks the first time we are leaving San Andreas since GTA V released back in 2013.

The exotic island is one of the most secure private islands in the world, and home to the world’s most notorious drug dealer. Making it to Cayo Perico will be easy, but breaching it’s defenses, evading and eliminating the heavily armed guards, and escaping with the dealer’s valuable evidence, gold, art, and money won’t be.

Where Cayo Perico sits in the world of Grand Theft Auto remains somewhat of a mystery, but one eagle-eyed fan noticed that the shape of the island spotted in the first teaser looks almost identical to Haiti.

New Submarine HQ

A new heist wouldn’t be complete without a brand-new HQ, and players will be heading under the waves when they get their hands on their submarine.

Heavily armed, the submarine will give players a location to plan their attacks from, and also provide somewhere to hide should the action on the island get a little too dangerous. Rockstar also claim there will be plenty of surprises inside the new HQ, although what they are remain unknown.

What else is new in GTA Online’s Cayo Perico heist?

On top of all the above, players will also be able to acquire new vehicles and tactical weapons, new social areas to party with friends, world-class guest DJs, and also find new radio stations with over 100 new songs to listen to as you cruise around the island.

More information is being revealed about the GTA Online Cayo Perico heist regularly, so be sure to check back to Charlie Intel as we continue to update this article.

How to find Cayo Perico Treasure Chests in GTA Online

Rockstar Games have added Treasure Chests to GTA Online as part of The Cayo Perico Heist expansion, and you can find them daily.

There are daily Treasure Chests hidden in The Cayo Perico Heist update that are worth $15,000 each, and you can find these when logging into GTA Online. Here’s how you can get your hands on them.

The Cayo Perico Heist brought brand new opportunities for earning money when it went live on December 14. The actual payout of the heist is impressive, and there are also other commodities that can earn you some extra cash such as gold bars.

Aside from doing missions and objectives, you can also find Treasure Chests when exploring the island of Cayo Perico before the heist. These are easy to find, and each one you come across contains $15,000.

Cayo Perico Treasure Chests locations

You can find two Treasure Chests daily when logging into GTA Online. One will be lying on the island, while the other can be found just off-shore in the water.

The game will notify you when you’re near one of these with the sound of bells ringing as you get closer to them. Just follow the sound until you see a prompt on-screen that lets you know that it’s time to open up the Treasure Chest.

Here’s how you can find them:

  1. Head to Cayo Perico to scope out the island
  2. Take a walk around that spot until you hear bells
  3. Keep walking in that area until you get an on-screen message
  4. Open the chest and claim the $15,000!

There are 10 possible locations where the chests can spawn on land, and these change every day. Luckily, YouTuber GTAMen has already compiled all of them on the GTA Online map.

Finding the ones that are underwater works the same way. The only major difficulty that arises is having to come up for air every few seconds after you dive into the ocean. For that reason, you should keep some rebreathers on you.

Just keep swimming towards the sounds of chiming bells until you get the prompt that tells you to open the Treasure Chest. GTAMen also went over all the underwater locations for these in another video.

So far, the Treasure Chests only rotate between these select locations. This might be subject to change later one, but right now you can find them by exploring these areas on the map daily when playing GTA Online.

Be sure to explore Cayo Perico as there are a ton of other fun activities and money-making opportunities at your disposal. GTA V’s first-ever map expansion has a lot of exciting content to offer, and it’s up to you to try it out.

GTA 6 rumors grow after players find strange files in RDR2

Some strange files in Red Dead Redemption 2 are pointing towards GTA 6 and it’s only fueling rumors even more.

gta 6 files in rdr2 leak

Evidence has been found in Red Dead Redemption 2 that would suggest that GTA 6 is in development. Or that we have more information on the upcoming GTA 5 re-release that’s heading to next-gen.

It’s fair to say that information about GTA 6 is about as barebones as can be. Fans are still currently in limbo as to whether or not the game even exists. It’s currently Rockstar’s own Schrodinger’s Cat.

With no concrete information to sink their teeth into, rabid fans are always scouring GTA 5, GTA Online, and Red Dead Redemption 2 for even the tiniest hints of new information. Well, some have been discovered. A file that does not fit RDR2 has been tracked down and it’s very interesting.

GTA 6 hinted at with RDR2 hidden file

A slew of rumors is all GTA fans have had to shout about in the last few years as GTA 5 continues to dominate the entertainment landscape as the most profitable piece of media ever created.

Recently, there have been rumors, concerning GTA 6, that the game will debut a female protagonist. It may even be set in Vice City too.

The errant file was found and reported to the official GTA Forum by user rollschuh2282. Tucked away in the RDR2′ files are items pertaining to parachutes. Now, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that this isn’t something designed for RDR2. These items have probably accidentally found their way into the files.

RDR2 files for GTA 5 or 6

The only question that remains, is this a component of GTA 6? Or something to do with the PS5 and Xbox Series X port of GTA 5?

The interesting part is that these files don’t exist in GTA 5 in any way shape or form. So either this is being added specifically to the next-gen version, or something else entirely.

As with all of these things GTA-related, we can only speculate for the time being. If anything does become a bit more clear, we’ll let you know.
