Warzone nuke event season 2 season 3

Following Warzone’s Nuke Event, Verdansk has been destroyed. Cold War and Warzone Season 3 and Verdansk ’84 are now live, so here’s how it all went down.

Warzone Season 3 is now live. It’s brought new weapons, Operators, and most excitingly, a new Warzone map.

Due to leaks and rumors, many believed that Verdansk would be destroyed at the end of Season 2. This turned out to be true, and after a two-stage live event in-game, Season 3 has launched, and Warzone has traveled back in time to Verdansk 84.

Here’s a full recap of the Warzone Season 3 Nuke Event, explaining why it happened and how it went down.

Warzone Season 2 nuke event

Why did Verdansk get nuked?

It had been long leaked and theorized that a nuke would destroy Verdansk. The Tactical Nuke has long been a staple in the Modern Warfare franchise, first being a major plot point in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and then being the ultimate Killstreak to earn in-game from MW2 onwards.

Nukes were seemingly missing in Warzone until the mysterious bunkers opened in May 2020. Bunker 11 required players to complete an easter egg to access it, and a nuclear bomb was discovered inside.

Since the nuke was discovered, players have been waiting to see how it would impact the game. Many expected a nuke to hit Verdansk and usher in a new map, and Season 2’s launch made it all the more likely.

CoD Warzone Zombies

At the beginning of Season 2, missile silos appeared beneath memorials around Verdansk, and a mysterious ship, the Vodianoy, crash-landed on the shore between Prison and Port. Zombies were aboard this ship, and they ravaged location after location until they reached Dam, where “Verdansk was all but gone to the damned.”

In the final week, Radiation Zones surrounded the areas which Zombies had visited. If players died inside these zones, they would come back as Zombies, similar to the Haunting of Verdansk event.

The Zombie threat was too great, so Operators (players) were deployed to Verdansk to contain the threat, but they failed. To save the world, Verdansk was nuked.

Warzone Season 3 Nuke Event Part 1 recap

After a season-long Zombie outbreak, it culminated in the nuking of Verdansk. This was a live event in-game, where players played an active part in Verdansk’s final moments.

After a playlist update on April 21, all modes were replaced with “The Destruction of Verdansk Part 1.” Queuing into this playlist would bring players into what appeared to be a regular match of Warzone, but with several important twists.

The Black Ops’ Zombies theme tune blared over the mode, and all the Radiation Zones were active. Rather than a Pistol, players also dropped in with a Shotgun, and there were only SMGs and other Shotguns to be found on the map.

As the gas cloud brought players towards Dam, those that perished along the way came back as Zombies. These Zombies had the goal of preventing the living from leaving, and those still alive had to get out.

Once the exfil was ready, those still alive had to board the helicopter over Dam’s frozen lake and escape. After that, cutscene began which showed a nuke fly towards Verdansk and destroy the map.

In the aftermath, the battle royale action took place on nighttime Rebirth Island. This mode took place 15 minutes after Verdasnk was destroyed, and players could see the mushroom cloud and fallout in the distance.

The second part of the event was scheduled for April 22.

Warzone Season 3 Nuke Event Part 2 recap

While players waited for the second stage of the Nuke Event, Season 3 officially began and Verdansk ’84 was revealed.

Superstore in Verdansk 84

Following Verdansk’s destruction, Warzone was set to head back to the 1980s to continue the mission to rescue Russel Adler for the Hunt for Adler event. A celebrity commercial showcased some new areas of the map and a teaser site revealed some of the changed locations.

After a full day of Verdansk being gone, another playlist update hit Warzone, and players were instructed to “Return to Rebirth Island IMMEDIATELY.”

The “Destruction of Verdansk Part 2” playlist went live, and players had to play a ‘capture the flag’ style game mode on Rebirth Island, with teams duking it out to be the one to destroy Verdansk.

Once the winning player, or team, had detonated the nuke, a cutscene played. This showcased the nuke hitting Verdansk, but then time rewound all the way back to 1984.

Players then seamlessly deployed into the new Warzone map, Verdansk ’84, which brought classic locations such as Summit and Standoff, as well as a brand-new Gulag.

That’s everything that happened in Warzone’s Nuke Event! The new map, Verdansk ’84, is now live, but Activision has confirmed that the original Verdansk will not be playable again.

Best Volk loadout for Warzone Season 4 Reloaded

The Volk is a solid Assault Rifle to use in Warzone Pacific Season 4 Reloaded, so here’s the best loadout including attachments and Perks.

Volk in Warzone

The Volk is a fast-firing AR that can be deadly in the right hands. So we’ve put together our best Warzone Pacific Season 4 Reloaded loadout for it featuring optimal attachments, Perks, and Equipment.

Warzone Pacific Season 4 Reloaded is well underway, and players have been quick to test out different weapons after the season shook up the meta with several buffs and nerfs as well as a new gun in the Vargo-S Assault Rifle.

The Volk Assault Rifle is not one of Warzone’s most popular weapons, with WZ ranked showing a mediocre pick rate of 0.65%. However, recent buffs have turned the Volk into one of the most underrated weapons in Warzone.

Here’s how to make the best Warzone Pacific Season 4 Reloaded Volk loadout.

Best Warzone Volk loadout attachments

volk ar on its side in cod
  • Muzzle: Recoil Booster
  • Barrel: Krausnick 428mm 05V
  • Optic: Slate Reflector
  • Stock: Reisdorf 22V Adjustable
  • Underbarrel: Mark VI Skeletal
  • Magazine: 7.62 Gorenko 45 Round Mags
  • Ammunition: Subsonic
  • Rear Grip: Taped Grip
  • Perk: Perfectionist
  • Perk 2: On-Hand

We’ll start off this Volk loadout by equipping the Recoil Booster to boost the fire rate and recoil control, while the Krausnick 428mm 05V will improve the weapon’s bullet velocity and damage range.

Given this Volk loadout is meant to be used as a close-range AR, the Slate Reflector is a go-to optic. You can use the Reisdorf 22V Adjustable and Mark VI Skeletal to improve the Volk’s ADS movement speed as well as its sprint-to-fire time.

The 7.62 Gorenko 45 Round Mags will grant you enough ammo to kill multiple enemies, and we went with the Subsonic ammunition to keep you off enemy mini-maps when firing the Volk.

Coming to our choice of perks, Perfectionist will provide another valuable boost to recoil control, whereas On-Hand will further increase ADS speed.

Best Warzone Volk Perks and Equipment

E.O.D, Ghost and Amped perks in warzone pp19 bizon loadout class
  • Perk 1: E.O.D
  • Perk 2: Overkill
  • Perk 3: Amped
  • Lethal: Throwing Knife
  • Tactical: Stim

We recommend equipping E.O.D as your first Perk so that you can tank explosive damage from Grenades, C4, and Claymores that enemies will throw your way during close and medium-range battles.

Overkill allows us to pair the Volk Assault Rifle with a long-range gun like the ZRG 20mm Sniper Rifle, and Amped is perfect for quick weapon swapping during different combat situations.

The Throwing Knife allows you to finish off opponents at close range, and the Stim will grant you a health boost if you find yourself facing an overwhelming number of enemies.

How to unlock the Volk in Warzone

Volk Warzone Vanguard AR

You’ll need to be Level 55 to unlock this gun in Vanguard and Warzone Pacific Caldera.

While it may be tempting to use some of the post-launch weapons that are now free for all players, unlocking the Volk is well worth your time as you’ll gain a powerful close-range weapon.

Best Warzone alternatives to Volk

If you’re looking for a great alternative to the best Warzone Volk loadout then we recommend trying out the Cold War AK-47. You can also go for the Cooper Carbine, which is easy to handle in combat.

Shotgun fans annoyed with Warzone’s close-range meta dominated by “broken” SMGs

Warzone’s close-range meta has been dominated by SMGs for several seasons, much to the dismay of Shotgun fans.

Warzone Shotgun

Warzone players have voiced their frustration with the longstanding close-range meta dominated by SMGs, leaving no room for Shotgun viability.

Warzone’s Season 4 Reloaded update brought several buffs and nerfs to the battle royale, but while it altered the long-range meta dominated by the NZ-41, it did very little to impact the close-range meta.

For some time now, Vanguard SMGs have completely commanded the close-range meta with other viable options few and far between. Not only does this limit the opportunity to use Modern Warfare and Cold War SMGs, but it also limits the viability of Shotguns in Warzone.

VLK Rogue Modern Warfare Warzone

Vanguard SMGs like the Armaguerra 43, Marco 5, Type 100, and even the recently nerfed H4 Blixen are amongst Warzone’s top weapons in terms of popularity and K/D.

Even Warzone expert JGOD’s recent video highlighting Warzone Season 4 Reloaded close-range meta is almost exclusively dominated by Vanguard SMGs.

Players have picked up on this trend and voiced their frustration with Warzone’s close-range meta. The question many players seem to be asking is: why has there not been a consistent Shotgun in Warzone’s close-range meta for months on end?

As this Reddit post explains, the entire shotgun class seems to continuously get neglected in favor of increasingly broken Vanguard SMGs.

The comments showcase a healthy debate between players discussing the state of Shotguns in Warzone. The most convincing of the bunch summarizes a possible reason behind the notable absence: “Shotguns are always either totally broken or useless they are a plague to balance.”

They weren’t the only player to share a similar opinion: “Shotguns are impossible to balance well since they’re only useful if they can basically one-shot at close range, otherwise an SMG is pretty much always better.”

Players seem to believe that the degree of difficulty involved in balancing Shotguns is what’s holding the weapon class back. It would be tough to justify a one-shot kill weapon capable of downing a player with a maximum health of 300.

Alternatively, one player gives the ideal example of what a balanced Shotgun felt like: “I would normally agree but the VLK pre-buff is a great example of a shotgun that was actually kinda decent but not OP.”

While it seems like some players believe a middle ground is achievable, the majority of players are wary of repeating past mistakes: “Dude, you must’ve not been here during the whole doof-doof crisis, plus the JAK-12 and the Streetsweeper.”

Warzone Pacific August 8 update patch notes: Dev Error fix & H4 Blixen nerf

Here are the full patch notes for Warzone Pacific Season 4 Reloaded’s August 8 update which has nerfed the H4 Blixen and fixed a Dev Error.

Warzone Operator plating

Warzone devs Raven Software released a patch on August 8 that fixes a common Dev Error as well as provides a movement speed nerf for the H4 Blixen in Season 4 Reloaded.

Season 4 Reloaded has been a breath of fresh air for players as Warzone’s meta is the most varied and balanced it’s been in a long time. While minor nerfs to some Modern Warfare weapons on August 3 slightly dampened the excitement, most would agree that the meta is still in an excellent state when it comes to variety.

Unfortunately, since the start of Season 4 Reloaded, several players were encountering a Dev Error that would prevent them from enjoying the new meta. Now, Raven Software have taken the appropriate steps to fix the Dev Error issue plaguing the Warzone experience.

Dev Error 5476 fix & H4 Blixen nerf

H4 Blixen Warzone Operator

Dev Error 5476 was preventing players from joining matches after the Season 4 Reloaded update. While there were a few DIY fixes for the Dev Error, this should no longer impact players trying to enjoy Warzone as the devs have fixed the issue with the August 8 update.

Furthermore, the devs have reverted an unwanted change from the August 3 update that was supposed to nerf the H4 Blixen‘s 7.62 Gorenko 54 Round Mag attachment.

When the update went live on August 3 it accidentally buffed the attachment. This unwanted change has been corrected with the August 8 update and the attachment’s movement speed has been decreased by 2%. In addition, the popular SMG also had its max damage reduced to 38 from 39.

  • Fixed an issue causing the H4 Blixen’s (VG) 7.62 Gorenko 54 Round Mag to increase movement speed by 2% rather than decrease it as intended.
