Where to find Operation Snowdown’s planes in Fortnite Season 5

Operation Snowdown has arrived to get Fortnite players into the festive holiday mood, and the planes from Chapter 1 are back. Here’s where you can find them all in Chapter 2, Season 5.

Fortnite’s Winterfest 2020 is finally here, and there’s a lot to unpack from the holiday-themed event. There are brand new challenges every day that give you the opportunity to earn free cosmetic rewards, as well as 10,000 XP.

Recently, Epic Games surprised fans in Russia by sending them emails with clues about what to expect from this year’s holiday event. In addition to a Christmas-themed Candy Cane skin, they also displayed a few planes.

With Operation Snowdown underway, planes have been added to Fortnite Season 5, and we’ll go over their locations.

Every Fortnite Season 5 Plane spawn location

A few of the Fortnite Operation Snowdown challenges have you visit the Snowmando outposts and loot some chests there. These are dotted around Fortnite’s map and are similar to the Expedition Outposts with planes parked outside.

You can find the outposts here:

  1. West of Pleasant Park, below the ‘P’ on the map.
  2. South-East of Steamy Stacks by the beach.
  3. East of Logjam Woodworks.
  4. North-East of Slurpy Swamp, by the dam.
  5. South of Catty Corner, up on the mountain.

When you come across one of the red outposts, you’ll be able to spot a plane nearby. Certain locations can spawn up to three planes, but the outposts have a random chance of spawning. This is what keeps players from being able to find all the planes.

This will be an obstacle throughout regular Battle Royale and Team Rumble, so you’ll need to keep playing until you visit all five. Your best chance of getting to them is through the Battle Labs since they are more likely to appear there.

We’ve marked their locations on the map below.

Epic Games has yet to announce any plans to fix the random spawning of these outposts, but until then you can still find the planes with a bit of patience. Just stick to the map above and you’re bound to come across them eventually.

Fortnite veterans will remember that planes were initially introduced in Chapter 1, but had to be removed due to balancing issues. Anyone who piloted one would become unstoppable and have an unfair advantage over players on the ground.

Hopefully those issues won’t be present this time around as Operation Snowdown is proving to be more exciting than we expected. If you weren’t able to enjoy Fortnite’s planes the first time around, then now’s your chance.
