Where to find Operation Snowdown’s planes in Fortnite Season 5

Chapter 2, Season 5 has brought planes back to Fortnite. Here’s where you can find all the planes in Operation Snowdown.

Operation Snowdown has arrived to get Fortnite players into the festive holiday mood, and the planes from Chapter 1 are back. Here’s where you can find them all in Chapter 2, Season 5.

Fortnite’s Winterfest 2020 is finally here, and there’s a lot to unpack from the holiday-themed event. There are brand new challenges every day that give you the opportunity to earn free cosmetic rewards, as well as 10,000 XP.

Recently, Epic Games surprised fans in Russia by sending them emails with clues about what to expect from this year’s holiday event. In addition to a Christmas-themed Candy Cane skin, they also displayed a few planes.

With Operation Snowdown underway, planes have been added to Fortnite Season 5, and we’ll go over their locations.

Every Fortnite Season 5 Plane spawn location

A few of the Fortnite Operation Snowdown challenges have you visit the Snowmando outposts and loot some chests there. These are dotted around Fortnite’s map and are similar to the Expedition Outposts with planes parked outside.

You can find the outposts here:

  1. West of Pleasant Park, below the ‘P’ on the map.
  2. South-East of Steamy Stacks by the beach.
  3. East of Logjam Woodworks.
  4. North-East of Slurpy Swamp, by the dam.
  5. South of Catty Corner, up on the mountain.

When you come across one of the red outposts, you’ll be able to spot a plane nearby. Certain locations can spawn up to three planes, but the outposts have a random chance of spawning. This is what keeps players from being able to find all the planes.

This will be an obstacle throughout regular Battle Royale and Team Rumble, so you’ll need to keep playing until you visit all five. Your best chance of getting to them is through the Battle Labs since they are more likely to appear there.

We’ve marked their locations on the map below.

Epic Games has yet to announce any plans to fix the random spawning of these outposts, but until then you can still find the planes with a bit of patience. Just stick to the map above and you’re bound to come across them eventually.

Fortnite veterans will remember that planes were initially introduced in Chapter 1, but had to be removed due to balancing issues. Anyone who piloted one would become unstoppable and have an unfair advantage over players on the ground.

Hopefully those issues won’t be present this time around as Operation Snowdown is proving to be more exciting than we expected. If you weren’t able to enjoy Fortnite’s planes the first time around, then now’s your chance.

Fortnite’s 18.30 update is live, so here are the full patch notes detailing all of the content, including a new POI, and bug fixes.

Fortnite The Convergence POI

Epic Games are keeping the Fortnite updates coming thick and fast during Fornitemares, with the 18.30 update now live. Here are the full patch notes, including the new Mountain Base POI, Cube Queen skin, weapons, and more.

We’ve now entered the third and final week of Fortnitemares, which had brought both the 18.20 and 18.21 updates. These updates made significant changes to the battle royale, such as adding donation boards, more Return Requests, and the new Cube Town POI.

The latest update, v18.30, is now live. It’s brought a new Mountain Base POI, new weapons, and the secret Battle Pass skin.

Here are the full patch notes for Fortnite’s 18.30 update.

Fortnite Season 8 Fortnitemares

Fortnite 18.30 update release date & server downtime

Fortnite’s 18.30 update is live, with the downtime now over so players can start dropping in and experiencing the new content.

New Fortnite Mountain Base POI

Fortnite season 8 mountain base POI

The 18.30 update has introduced a brand-new POI to the game, with the Catty Corner bunker door opening up to form the Mountain Base.

Since Fortnite moved to the Chapter 2 island, players have been wondering what’s behind the huge door next to Catty Corner. These doors have now opened up with 18.30, but Epic warns that you need to prepare “to fend against Doctor Slone and her guards.”

New Fortnite weapons

The 18.30 update has brought two new weapons, the Icy Grappler and Combat Pistol.

The Icy Grappler acts much the same as the regular Grappler but turns your feet icy for much more mobility. It can be purchased from Fabio Sparklemane for 400 Bars.

And the Combat Pistol comes in every rarity, ranging from 23 damage (Common) to 28 damage (Legendary). The in-game description says it “benefits greatly from aiming down sights.”

Combat Shotgun vs Boogie Bomb

The Donation Boards return again in the 18.30 update, this time pitting Boogie Bombs and the Combat Shotgun against each other.

Boogie Bombs force your opponents to dance, leaving them defenseless for a few seconds. And the Combat Shotgun is a powerful semi-auto shotgun that has great range.

Players need to donate Gold Bars towards one of the weapons, and the first to hit 100% will arrive in Season 8.

Cube Queen Secret Skin comes to Season 8 Battle Pass

The Secret Battle Pass Skin, the Cube Queen, will be available from 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET / 2 PM BST, where players can unlock her Outfit and the Long Live the Queen Set.

Stay tuned to Charlie INTEL for all of the Quests that release later on October 26.

Fortnite Cube Town Pyramid

The Convergence has moved to its next phase with the 18.30 update, and leaks have suggested this will soon form a pyramid.

Epic has teased that “with v18.30, the next phase of The Convergence is now built. Head to the Island’s center to see the Cubes’ ominous progress…”

Well-known leaker HYPEX has discovered that “there’s a string in the Cube Queen’s effects that refers to her as the ‘Pyramid Tip.’

The Cube Town Pyramid seems to be confirmed, with data miners discovering a new challenge where players must “Visit The Pyramid.” And the challenge description says “Ooh, purple! Show me purple! I’m getting the sense that they’re not supposed to be doing that.”

HYPEX now believes that “The Cubes are 100% turning into a pyramid.”

Fortnite Power Leveling weekend

Power leveling in Fortnite

From October 29 at 7 PM ET to November 1 at 7 AM ET, Fortnite players will be treated to bonus XP as part of a Power Leveling weekend.

This will allow players to level up even faster by unlocking a “bonus pool of Supercharged XP.”

Fortnite The Batman Who Laughs skin arrives

The Batman Who Laughs in Fortnite Season 8

Fortnite is continuing its collaboration with DC Comics, bringing villain The Batman Who Laughs to the game. The skin will hit the Item Shop at 5 PM PT on October 25, the same day as the 18.30 update.

The Batman Who Laughs bundle comes with The Batman Who Laughs skin, Robin’s Perch Backbling, and Dark Multiverse Set Pickaxe and Glider.

Fortnite 18.30 update major bug fixes

Here are the confirmed major bug fixes for the 18.30 update, which deal with a couple of game-breaking issues.

  • Fixed an issue involving the Sideways Scythe’s “Smash Attack” ability resulting in fall damage if players used it from a high point.
  • Fixed an issue involving the red dot indicator no longer showing on the compass when enemies were firing.

And that’s everything we know about Fortnite’s 18.30 update!

Fortnite players slam “ridiculous” Rainbow Racer unlock challenge

Fortnite fans are frustrated with the unlock challenge for the Rainbow Rider skin in the Refer-A-Friend program.

Published

on

Rainbow Racer loading screen in Fortnite

Fortnite players who were hoping to get their hands on Season 8’s special Rainbow Racer skin have been left infuriated by the extremely difficult challenge required to unlock it in the Refer-A-Friend program.

The new Refer-A-Friend beta in Fortnite lets you earn neat rewards by inviting a few friends to the game and completing challenges alongside them. One of the new rewards you can get is the Rainbow Rider skin.

While fans love this new outfit, many of them aren’t happy with the requirement to unlock it as they consider the challenge to be “ridiculous.” Now, the Fortnite community is looking for ways to get around this requirement.

Rainbow Racer in Refer A Friend

Reddit user Rifted-06 highlighted this issue in the official Fortnite subreddit. While using the Refer-A-Friend program, the last challenge to unlock the Rainbow Racer Fortnite skin requires you and your friends to reach level 60 individually.

This can be frustrating if one of your friends is far behind everyone else, as the rest of the team won’t earn the skin until their teammate finally hits level 60. Worse, if that player never reaches that target, none of the team will get Rainbow Racer at all.

“Every time Epic seems to try and make a website event, involving bringing back friends, it always seems to fall flat. This is just another example of how NOT to do Friend challenges,” wrote one user.

Now, Fortnite players are creating alt accounts to use in place of a referred friend so that they can level both accounts themselves. Some are even planning to use the Creative mode to go AFK every day while gradually earning XP.

“You have until January 11th and as far as I can tell you don’t need to do the levels together,” one Fortnite fan said. “You can just play on your main till you have 60 and then switch to the secondary to get 60 levels.”.

It remains to be seen if the requirements to unlock the Rainbow Racer outfit will change in the future. Currently, you can register before November 14 to start claiming the rewards in Fortnite’s Refer a Friend program.
