The World Series of Warzone EU Finals took place on September 6 and while pros used meta choices such as the UGM-8, PPSh-41, and Riot Shield, almost a fifth of players ran the Gorenko Anti-Tank Sniper Rifle. Here’s why this underrated choice dominated the WSOW Finals.

Despite other weapons such as the UGM-8, PPSh-41, and Armaguerra 43 being the best in the game, Vanguard’s Gorenko Anti-Tank Rifle dominated the World Series of Warzone’s EU Finals matches.

It’s rare to see the Gorenko, or PTRS, in regular Warzone matches but it had an almost 20% pick rate over the first five WSOW games. Here’s why pro players favored it in the World Series of Warzone EU Finals.

The Gorenko is considered an underrated gem in Warzone. Despite its low 0.74 pick rate, it has a respectable 1.25 K/D and the fourth-highest win rate in the game.

The Gorenko is one of the few Sniper Rifles that can actually one-shot headshot at any range, but its positive attributes don’t just end there. One of the Gorenko’s best features is its incredible 1746.4 m/s bullet velocity that almost feels like hitscan. To compare, the 3-Line shoots at 1591.7 m/s.

Plus, its semi-automatic nature and magazine mean that it has a much higher fire rate, almost tripling the 3-Line’s. So, the Gorenko is extremely powerful, but why are teams running it in the World Series of Warzone when the UGM-8 can beam across the map?

With players getting a point for every kill, sniping is a practically risk-free way to boost their score. Plus, a quick knock and headshot finish can make an engagement one-sided in a second, and that’s vital to getting a fight over quickly and avoiding third parties. With how powerful having a Sniper Rifle is, there’s no better choice than the Gorenko.
