Sledgehammer Games has announced a brand new community event for Call of Duty: WWII, Days of Summer! The Days of Summer event is live in Call of Duty: WWII with the new patch update that goes live today. The Days of Summer event will end on August 28.

There’s three new weapons, new Sandbox map, new aerial fighting mode, Captain Butcher returns with new summer-themed casual gear, and more available as part of the event.

New Weapons

  • SMG: Ribeyrolles
  • Sniper: 3 Line Snipers
  • Automaton

Sandbox Map

There’s a new map — available first on PS4 — called Sandbox. Activision says that the Sandbox map is available exclusively on PlayStation 4 for 30 days. “The Sandbox map will launch on PlayStation®4 30 days prior to launch on other platforms”. In this map, you actually become a miniaturized-plastic solider and are laid into the new Sandbox map.

Days of Summer features the action-packed Sandbox map. Transform yourself into a plastic toy soldier and battle for victory in a beachside sandbox. Play a mix of game modes in the Sandbox Moshpit playlist, featuring Prop Hunt and other fan favorites. This is no playground – join up and fight before Days of Summer ends, on August 28.

Aerial Dogfighting Mode

In addition, there’s a new aerial dogfighting mode that will be available. SHG says they heard a lot of feedback from Call of Duty: WWII’s second DLC Packs’ War Operation, which had an aerial fighting, so they made it is own mode for this limited time event. The Dogfight playlist is 6v6.

Players can battle in the sweltering skies above the Egyptian Pyramids, or swoop in and around the clouds of the Crimean Mountains. There are now environmental obstacles for the player to navigate with their warbird, as well as huge zeppelins and white puffy clouds dominating the skyline. Players can use the obstacles to shake off bogeys and stay alive long enough to earn a Flak Gun Scorestreak.
