XDefiant dev responds to release date rumors following PEGI rating approval
UbisoftXDefiant players have been speculating about the game’s release following the title’s PEGI rating approval, leading to an official response from Executive Producer, Mark Rubin.
XDefiant is one of the most highly-anticipated FPS titles set to release in 2023, despite competition from Activision’s Modern Warfare III.
The devs have previously stated that the game is set for a summer 2023 release, however, as the season draws to a close, there’s still no official release date for the title. Players did get their hopes up, however, when they discovered that the game’s PEGI rating had been approved, taking it as a sign of the game’s imminent release.
However, that doesn’t seem to be the case, as XDefiant’s Executive Producer, Mark Rubin, took to X to clear up player quarrels regarding the game’s release.
Mark Rubin confirmed that while the game’s PEGI rating had been approved, this is “completely disconnected from [the] Submission” of the game. All the PEGI rating approval means is that PEGI have “approved the rating that they have assigned to the game.”
The submission process is something that developers have to go through before launching the game, and it’s separate from the PEGI rating approval. Mark Rubin confirmed that this process is ongoing and that a launch date is “dependent on that process.”
That said, the dev does state that he is “hoping to have another update soon,” so perhaps this is a reference to an imminent release date, as a summer 2023 launch is looking less and less likely as August comes to a close.
We’ll have to wait for future announcements from Mark Rubin and the Ubisoft team behind XDefiant, but as soon as more details regarding the game and its release date are available, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on CharlieIntel.
