XDefiant dev shares update as fans desperately wait for release date info
UbisoftAs XDefiant fans patiently wait for a final release date, the game’s Executive Producer, Mark Rubin, has shared a development update explaining what stage the work is at.
XDefiant is the upcoming project from Ubisoft that’s looking to take over the FPS space and rival the likes of Call of Duty. The game takes a number of the publisher’s most beloved factions, such as Splinter Cell’s Third Echelon, and places them into a fast-paced arena shooter.
After successful beta periods, fans have been desperately waiting for details on when XDefiant will finally launch. Although many had hoped its inclusion in the upcoming World’s Greatest tournament meant it was imminent, there is still no concrete release date for the game.
Now, Ubisoft Executive Produce, Mark Rubin, has shared an update on the development of XDefiant, and while there’s still no official launch date, it gives fans an idea of what stage the game is at.
Mark Rubin shares XDefiant development update
In a post from his X account, Rubin apologized that the team have been “quiet” when it comes to news, and explained what the devs are currently working on when it comes to XDefiant.
He said: “We’re in a phase where we are submitting XDefiant for release and squashing any last-minute bugs. And on a new IP (i.e., not a sequel to a sequel to a sequel…) we are taking the time to get those steps right.”
The dev went on to say that he shares the “frustration” of the players who are eager to finally hop in and play the final release.
Although Rubin didn’t give any more details on when XDefiant will finally arrive, he did hint that fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to get hold of the new FPS.
“But there is light at the end of the tunnel. The team is hard at work, and we are making progress everyday to get the game in your hands as soon as it’s ready,” he continued. “Thank you again to everyone for being fans of our game and I hope to see you all soon in game.”
Players will be hoping that this means that XDefiant is entering the final stages of development and the game will launch in the coming weeks.
