What is Bomb in XDefiant? Search & Destroy mode explained

Bomb is XDefiant‘s Search and Destroy game mode that offers a tactical and tense experience that Call of Duty players will be familiar with.

It’s a mode that players have been begging the devs to introduce, and it seems Ubisoft are finally answering those calls, as it finally arrives in Season 1.

Bomb game mode explained

Bomb is XDefiant’s Search and Destroy game mode, which sees two teams of six battling it out to either protect or destroy two different bomb sites on a map. You can win Bomb by besting your opponents in six rounds.

The attacking team must plant the bomb or eliminate all the enemy team players to win a round, while the defenders must either take out all enemy players or make sure the bomb is either not planted within the time limit or defused if planted.

When the mode drops, it won’t be released for Ranked Play, but it could eventually arrive for the competitive mode somewhere down the line. It’s also not clear which maps will be used for Bomb, so we’ll be sure to update this piece will all that information as soon as we know.

When is Bomb available?

We don’t yet have a release date for Bomb, but in the Season 1 Reveal video, the devs did confirm that the Search and Destroy mode will be arriving within the first season.

The devs decided to fast-track the mode and bring it in the first season due to high player demand. Perhaps it will arrive with the mid-season update, but we’ll update this section once we have confirmation regarding its release.
