Zombies take over of Warzone’s Verdansk reaches 100%

Raven Software has continued to set up what’s next for Call of Duty: Warzone with new emergency broadcasts alerting about what’s to come.

APRIL 15 ALERT:

The latest Warzone Containment Protocol alert has been posted to the Call of Duty Blog.

Attention All Surviving Verdansk Operators,

Given current models and errant transmissions, please be aware of the following:

A major contagion warning has been issued for the Gora Dam following the movement of hostile forces from the areas southwest. It is believed that all mutations of the current threats may be present in this area. Consider these threats extremely dangerous.

Current postulations point to the origin of these threats: It is believed that the hostiles we are attempting to contain were possibly crew members of the “ghost ship” Vodianoy, as well as research personnel from the ship’s originating port, [REDACTED] codenamed “Rebirth Island.” It is further hypothesized that cargo contained within the hold of the ship contained the current contaminant.

The current conclusion is that the Vodianoy, a cargo tanker last sighted as leaving port [REDACTED], released this chemical contaminant – once thought to be completely eradicated from the earth due to its synthetic nature – back into the greater ecosystem.

This explains the presence of Yellow Access Cards found on uniforms of hostile forces. During Operation Rapid Sunder, our most elite Operators found similar Access Cards throughout Verdansk previously held by those who were given access to restricted areas around the conurbation and its adjacent vicinity within the Arklov Peak mountain range. Similarly, these Yellow Access Cards appear to be tied to another restricted area within Verdansk, along with being able to open emergency stashes of equipment to be used in case of a biohazardous crisis.

The containment percentage was – and currently is – accurate. These hostile forces have left contamination traces across every area they invaded. We have yet to uncover studies on the material’s half-life – due to the rapid escalation of non-standard hostilities – and therefore cannot provide full guidance on the exact impact these traces have even on the most trained and highly prepared Operators.

Therefore, our guidance remains steadfast: Threats – human or otherwise – should be neutralized on sight. Contaminated areas should be avoided by Operators who do not have personal protection equipment such as specialized Gas Masks, though such devices may be found within these Containment Zones, likely belonging to previously fallen Operators. Secure these masks at your own risk.

Above all else, the objective for Operation Rapid Sunder has not changed:

Survive at all costs.

Stand by for further emergency orders.

FROM FIELD OPERATOR [REDACTED]: Pull everyone out now. This is a fool’s errand.

NOTE FROM ACC: Critical safety measures are being put into place. Do not share with the general public.

FROM FIELD OPERATOR [REDACTED]: What the hell does that mean?!

APRIL 8 ALERT:

The latest Warzone Containment Protocol alert has been posted to the Call of Duty Blog.

MESSAGE FROM Vice Commander [[REDACTED]] ON CONTAINMENT PROTOCOL

Attention all Verdansk Operatives.

We want to personally assure you all that those who still fight for Armistice – our Armistice, the one that rises from the ashes like a phoenix – can place current containment efforts aside and continue to execute Operation: Rapid Sunder.

Per recent models, everything is under control and is according to our protocol procedure, and we would like to address the following key findings from the previous six weeks of this so-called “undead” threat:

Central Command has received a number of reports from field operatives – especially during the last 24 hours – that raise concerns regarding the accuracy of the Verdansk Contamination Levels. We can assure you that the estimated threat, and physical manifestations thereof, continue to be at manageable levels. Without a full and clear picture, personal evidence of so-called “zombie” activities from Operators on the ground continue to be speculative and anecdotal.

We are meeting at the time of this message’s issuance to double-check this data, but for now, this is the current guidance I bring to you:

We have updated the Contamination Levels to 66%. Although this seems more than a little concerning, we can assure you that this refers to the presence of toxic matter and not complete contamination. While active contamination zones – such as the BCH4 TV Station this previous week – had unusually high levels of this material, prior areas – such as the Financial District two weeks earlier – are completely cleared of all contaminants and are safe to conduct mission within.

This update to 66% is also in line with the Emergency Broadcast System issuing another contagion warning within Verdansk’s western sector below the Airport. According to central command, this appears to be concentrated within the long-vacated Atlas commercial structure within the region.

Similar to prior correspondence, we are aware that numerous forms of this hostile force have manifested, and that they should be neutralized immediately. We will not issue any demerits for avoiding this area entirely, but encourage any and all efforts to contain this threat within this zone.

More importantly, I want to further assure you that everything is under control.

This anomaly will be defeated, much like the nightmares of October and the observable dissolution of Armistice prior. As we once again join forces to fight this new threat, it reminds us of our duty to bring back the alliance that once strengthened us.

Do not falter. Hold the line.

You are encouraged to stay frosty and execute the mission.

FROM FIELD OPERATOR [[REDACTED]]: This is some real [[REDACTED]]. If you cared about who still fights for Armistice even after its dissolution, or at least, what it used to stand for, use today to plan our evacuation. STAT.

NOTE FROM ACC: Remove prior containment percentage errors, reasonings, reference to the outdated model’s original issuance date, and disparaging language from V.C.’s letter. Resubmit after initial containment protocol phase three meeting today.

APRIL 1 ALERT:

The latest Warzone Containment Protocol alert has been posted to the Call of Duty Blog.

Attention all Verdansk Operatives.

The Emergency Broadcast System has issued a contagion warning for the BCH4 TV Station northwest of Verdansk Stadium following a major breach and findings of contamination within the studio.

Although the majority of BCH4 employees evacuated Verdansk hours before the start of Operation Rapid Sunder, as evidenced by intel gathered by elite Armistice Operators, a skeleton crew remained within the region to update displaced civilians across Kastovia.

This presence of contamination is in addition to an overall breach of the station by currently affected hostile forces, who overran the area following an advancement from the Acropolis National Bank. Threats within the TV Station range from those exhibiting “normal” symptoms to variants that were first spotted within the Vodianoy Shipwreck (noxious fumes) and Verdansk Hospital (electromagnetic pulse-like discharges).

Furthermore, Operators have reported the presence of a new variant that causes threats to exhibit unusually strong resistance to ballistics across their anterior, which went against our known intel for the previous breach at the Acropolis National Bank.

Armistice researchers suggest that in the weeks prior, natural selection – or unnatural handling of these threats by Operators – caused a radical shift in DNA within these threats to help them survive. Although the threats are potentially more deadly to those untrained enough to spot their defenseless points, researchers concluded that this variant should not rise to be the dominant strain.

Regardless of the threat found within this region, the following guidance has been approved for all military Operators on duty within the greater Tavorsk area:

Exercise extreme caution when conducting operations within or around the BCH4 TV Station point of interest. Hostile forces are considered to be extremely dangerous and contain numerous mutations within their ranks previously seen in other anomalous zones.

Containment Protocol Alert – Contamination Level at 33%

Following the breach of the BCH4 TV Station, contamination levels within Verdansk have now reached 33%.

This percentage exceeds normal levels of contamination within Verdansk, which was ever-present due to rolling gas storms in the region. It is believed that this level of contamination may soon compromise current missions.

Stage one of the Containment Protocol is ongoing, and further data indicating current outbreak spread will be transmitted to secure areas within the region.

As outlined in the Armistice Code of Operations, Operators are to assist with containment efforts by neutralizing these threats on sight, in addition to the main objectives of Operation Rapid Sunder. Following exfiltration, Operators are to immediately report to Armistice-approved fumigation sites, complete required questioning about potential contacts, and present optional proof of complete hostile eradication for commendations, although this elective step may be performed within Verdansk at the Operator’s own peril.

Above all else, you are encouraged to stay frosty and execute the mission.

The breach has gone far deeper into Verdansk than first realized. Recommending immediate exfil and containment of the entire conurbation. Entire territory is looking FUBAR.

Do not induce panic. The true nature of the containment cannot be made public. Remove all alarmist rhetoric.

MARCH 25 ALERT:

The latest Warzone Containment Protocol alert has been posted to the Call of Duty Blog.

The Emergency Broadcast System has issued a minor contagion warning for the Acropolis National Bank within Downtown Tavorsk’s Financial District, effective immediately. Although the origin of this current outbreak is unknown, Armistice researchers have settled on three theories:

The leading explanation, based on tracking data across Operators, suggests that Armistice members taking part in operations within previously contaminated points of interest that have since been fumigated – the Shipwreck, Zordaya Prison Complex, and Verdansk Hospital – travelled to this central bank for extraction via the helipad. This would explain the prevalence of all three deadly mutations found within hostile forces occupying the bank interior.

An alternative report displayed recent evidence of contaminated matter within the vault’s safety deposit boxes, which were left open for an unknown time period following Operation Strongbox.

The third, which has been rejected for a lack of tangible evidence, claims that these hostile creatures have a natural attraction for fiat currency, although this is the only explanation that aligns with unusual reports of “several hundred dollars, ammunition, and other miscellaneous items” extracted from them following engagements.

Regardless of the exact origins of this new contaminated zone, the following guidance has been approved for all military Operators on duty within the greater Tavorsk area:

Continue to exercise extreme caution when conducting operations within or around the Financial District point of interest. Hostile forces are considered to be extremely dangerous and contain numerous mutations within their ranks previously only seen in other anomalous zones.

Alert: Containment Protocol Engaged

Following the past month of unusual activity around Southern Verdansk and to reduce further spread of aforementioned phenomena, Armistice is officially instating a Containment Protocol across the entire region of Verdansk.

As outlined in the Armistice Code of Operations, stage one of this protocol – monitoring and assessing current crises – is in effect. Data indicating current outbreak spread will be transmitted to secure areas within the region.

Furthermore, Operators are to assist with containment efforts by neutralizing these threats on sight, in addition to the main objectives of Operation Rapid Sunder. Following exfiltration, Operators are to immediately report to Armistice-approved fumigation sites, complete required questioning about potential contacts, and present optional proof of complete hostile eradication for commendations, although this elective step may be performed within Verdansk at the Operator’s own peril.

Up until the date of this issuance, infestation levels remain steady, given the lack of severe outbreak outside of individual areas within Southern Verdansk. These levels will be subject to change based on current outbreak conditions.

You are encouraged to stay frosty and execute the mission.

MARCH 18 ALERT:

The latest Warzone Containment Protocol alert has been posted to the Call of Duty Blog.

Here’s the alert:

The Emergency Broadcast System has issued a minor contagion warning for the Verdansk Hospital west of Downtown Tavorsk District following a critical failure in cadaver disposal routines. In addition, Operators working within the recent miasma at the Vodianoy crash site and Zordaya Prison Complex have reported contact with threats of unknown origin within the vicinity of this location.

Descriptions of the entities encountered vary by witness, but a general overview is as follows: Prior to their deaths, these hostiles experienced a severe lack of coordination, necrosis, and in some extreme cases, body capacitance well exceeding normal levels, with EMP-like effects occurring during occasional discharge. Due to numerous cases of this occurrence, the following guidance has been approved for all military Operators on duty within the greater Tavorsk area:

Continue to exercise extreme caution when conducting operations within or around the Hospital, in addition to the Zordaya Prison Complex and Shipwreck points of interest. These anomalous zones are believed to still contain the hostile forces that we have come into contact with in the prior three weeks of operations and are considered to be extremely dangerous. Order has been given to exterminate these threats on sight, in addition to any rogue Armistice Operator teams encountered within Verdansk as per the current orders in Operation: Rapid Sunder.

Furthermore, it is believed that those affected by the recent anomalies leave traces of unknown matter, which is now heavily concentrated within the Hospital. Therefore, Verdansk Hospital should no longer be used for triage nor as a permanent medical facility, effective immediately and indefinitely. All Operators must request med-evac in case of severe injury or recovery of wounded allies or civilians, with field hospitals provided by the WHP to be used for life-threatening emergencies, should the provided mobile recovery kits fail to revive Operators in the field. Operators are also ordered to reroute their exfiltration flight path to an Armistice-approved fumigation site and may be subject to additional questioning about potential contacts.

Alert: Containment Protocol Level has not been raised, as it is still believed that these anomalous activities will still be confined to the southern zone of Sector 5 and the Hospital. Computer models still expect the anomalous activities to cease shortly, and a conflagration continues to be a low-risk concern.

MARCH 11 ALERT:

Verdansk is set to be invaded by Zombies soon, as new Emergency Alerts are being sent out to players in Call of Duty: Warzone.

In a new blog post, Raven has posted the full containment protocol alert:

Attention all Verdansk Operatives.

The Emergency Broadcast System has issued a minor contagion warning for the southeastern zone of Verdansk encompassing the miasma epicenter (“ghost ship” Vodianoy) as well as territories immediately east, including the Zordaya Prison Complex and surrounding areas. In addition, terrain reconnaissance scouts in conjunction with a multi-lateral Armistice air support squadron, have determined the existence of anomalies within this region of Kastovia. The following guidance has been approved for all military Operators working within the greater Tavorsk area:

You are recommended to exercise extreme caution: Reconnoitering within these newly confirmed anomalous zones may result in additional conflict, as speculative reports indicate secondary forces of unknown origin now residing both within the Prison Complex as well as the fully compromised Shipwreck points of interest.

Hostile forces are described as withered, exhibiting a cadaverous appearance, and lacking in contrastive cognizant function. Should you encounter these anomalous hostiles, no quarter should be given. Subsequently, a fighting withdrawal, immediate exfil and subsequent fumigation is recommended.

Alert: Containment Protocol Level has not been raised, as these threats appear to be mainly contained to the southern zone of Sector 5, and Operators in surrounding regions should proceed as normal. Computer models expect the anomalous activities to cease shortly, and a conflagration is not expected.

Stay frosty and execute the mission.

Raven has also shared a short broadcast emergency video on their Twitter, highlighting Zombies taking over the Prison and new Ship area as the containment protocol takes effect.

What’s next for Warzone is yet to be officially announced by Activision, but rumors have been circulating that Warzone’s Verdansk is set to be destroyed with a new map to come in April.
